HP JetDirect sets race pace for office PC users

Hewlett-Packard Company and digital communications agency Global Beach today announced the release of HP JetSpeed, a high-speed racing challenge and screensaver for the PC user and small-business sector that demonstrates the benefits of HP JetDirect print servers through compelling interactive entertainment.
A bird`s-eye view of the racing track allows drivers to choose the optimum racing line as they speed through a digital office, weaving past print servers, PCs and CD-ROM towers, to lap the LAN.
HP JetSpeed, which can be downloaded free of charge from www.hp.com/go/racing, is a network-ready challenge in true 'plug-and-play' style that takes just minutes to install. Drivers can play solo or take on colleagues in a high-speed pursuit across a selection of LAN race circuits. The game is available in a choice of eight languages.
HP JetSpeed tests drivers` racing prowess and their knowledge of HP products; an understanding of the office equipment, shown trackside, is critical to maximising race performance. Badly-configured printers en route can cause power drains, while HP JetDirect products -- print servers and CD-ROM towers -- provide tactical turbo boosts and power surges that drive home race advantage.
A dedicated 'Tips and Tricks' masterclass section provides ambitious drivers with essential race and product information, identifying sources of power boosts and turbos.
All racers begin with a standard slot car, but high-performing drivers can qualify for a series of four possible car upgrades to reflect their lap speeds and racing proficiency. Slot cars can be swapped for a London taxi; a pickup truck; a Jaguar XK8; or, the ultimate car, a black F355 racing Ferrari.
Track lap times are recorded automatically on personalised leader boards, and expert F355 drivers can submit lap times to the HP JetSpeed Web site to compete for prizes and a place on the HP JetSpeed Champions League worldwide leader board.
